Published by Faber and Faber, 2016
One Saturday, in the middle of June,
on a bright and windy afternoon,
all the creatures by Piggyback Wood
were getting ready – as fast as they could.

Whimsical and cute.
Glorious, totally uplifting, a wonderful celebration of friendship and perseverance; Harry & Lil are eternally endearing. Eunyoung Seo’s delectable scenes, coupled with Julia Copus’ tongue-tingling rhyming text are guaranteed to bring joy to listeners and readers aloud, at every turn of the page. Spectacular! This is the third wonderful ‘Harry & Lil Story’ and they just seem to get better and better.
Every one of these [Harry & Lil books] is good but this one is my favorite (I think). It has a touch of “impossible” in it and I like that.
There are lots of rhyming picture books but very few that read aloud as beautifully as this one: Julia Copus is an award-winning poet and it shows. In this latest adventure for Harry the Hog and Candy Stripe Lil they are getting ready for Badger’s party: ‘At the top of the invitation it said: Will guests please arrive with a hat on their head’. But Lil’s best hat has blown onto the roof – can they retrieve it in time for the party? It’s not easy, but Lil’s motto is ‘never say never’. Lil and Harry are an endearing partnership and this little story of try, try again is made even more appealing by Eunyoung Seo’s captivating illustrations, and that silvery rhyming text.
